Bend knots are used to join together two lengths of rope. The sheet bend is the most common type of bend knot, and it is similar to granny or square knots. It is quick to tie, becomes stronger as more pressure is applied, and won’t slip under load.

Knot tying is a hobby that is especially popular with outdoor recreational groups.
